
Mekliganj College, founded on 22nd December, 1996 as a General Degree College in the district of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, is located at the remotest part of the district adjacent to Bangladesh border. After partition, Mekhliganj, once strategically important town, was converted into a backward town from both socio-economic as well as academic perspectives. To overcome this backwardness, the people of Mekhliganj Subdivision, through relentless truffle of almost one decade, were able to establish the college so that local people can get an opportunity to improve their level of knowledge and awareness.
